Status update

On Tuesday this week, I posted this as my status: “Yesterday there was a guy who asked me if I have a boyfriend. I said yes, but I don’t really have one. Any single guys want to volunteer so I won’t be lying next time?”

For any guys I’ve now managed to scare off (not that anyone fits into this category): the status was posted partially as a joke.  I’m not looking for a boyfriend, or at least not anything the least bit serious.  I don’t want to end up like so many girls I know of (we won’t name any names here) who decide to just get married straight out of high school and don’t bother with much of anything other than getting married and being a housewife.  (To me, the idea of being nothing more than a housewife and/or stay-at-home mom sounds torturous.)  As in, that’s not for me.

The part of the status that said some guy hit on me is true.  The part asking “any single guys…” is a joke.  I just took a quick, non-scientific look at my friend list on facebook and here’s the results I came up with.

I have 92 people on my friend list.  63 females, 29 males.  Out of the males, most of them are married.  They’re either already married (such as Justin, Patrick, and CJ), or related to me (such as David, Levi, and Cody).  Or they’re just too old for me.  That leaves only three or four possibly single guys that also happen to be my age.

I also posted the status as a way to see how people would react to me, and I have to admit I loved Maritza’s response to what I wrote.
